Globally, local economies are limited by the availability of finance in their particular area. Community currencies are complementary to government-issued currencies and encourage the production and trade of local value. By building on top of a Blockchain infrastructure, community currencies become efficient, resilient, and transparent.
Kolektivo is developing a community currency toolkit and mobile app focused on earning and spending community currencies. During the Kolektivo Festival, an early version of the app was released and enabled hundreds of users to buy food and drinks with their app.
Increased climate awareness and regulation have created environmental credit markets, such as carbon credits, that facilitate global trade between emitters and conservers. Despite the rapid growth, only a handful of large environmental projects can benefit from this market, as the barriers are high.
Technical innovations in digital Measurement, Report, and Verification methods and the tokenization of environment credits are pushing down the boundaries for local production of such credits. Kolektivo is at the forefront of a movement called “Regenerative Finance” that aims to allow environmental projects, anywhere and of each size, to benefit from the environment credit market. For the past two years, we’ve been building out pilots around regenerative agriculture and conducting research in various areas.
The majority of not-for-profits rely on grants and donations. While increasing resources are available for impact initiatives, attaining them is often lengthy and expensive. This creates a barrier and inefficiencies that limit development.
Emerging tech helps make more transparent and data-driven systems that significantly improve the efficiency of resource allocation. Over the past three years, Kolektivo has issued over 50 microgrants through various programs with an average turn-around time of 3 weeks.
We work with purpose-driven organizations and institutions to create the regenerative solutions of tomorrow. Our designers, engineers and systems innovators are eager to explore new use-cases. Have an impact challenge you want to explore together? Let us know.
